Lecture Recording Guidelines
These guidelines will help ensure that your lecture recordings—whether audio or video—are optimized for upload speed, viewing quality, and efficient storage.
1. Recording Format
- Audio or Video: You may record the lecture as either an audio or a video recording.
- Automatic MP3 Creation: If you record a video, uploading it will automatically generate an MP3 (audio) file.
2. Video Recording Best Practices
- Resolution & Frame Rate:
- Record at 720p resolution with a 30 fps frame rate.
- This setting balances video quality with file size, ensuring a satisfactory viewing experience even on larger screens.
- Orientation for Apple Devices:
- The default orientation is landscape.
- Ensure the “home button” is on the left (with the camera in the upper left) so that the recording is right-side up.
3. Technical Considerations
- Bandwidth Limitations:
- Upload speeds depend on the location's internet bandwidth.
- If the connection is slow, consider uploading from a location with a stronger internet connection.
- Video Compression:
- If reducing the recording resolution isn’t possible, compress the video to accelerate the upload process and conserve server space.
- Smaller File Sizes:
- Keeping file sizes small eases viewing and downloading for members and reduces storage costs.
