? How to Disable or Remove a VPN

? If You're Using a VPN Browser Extension

(e.g., NordVPN, Surfshark, etc.)

  1. Open your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Edge).
  2. Click the Extensions icon (? puzzle piece) in the top-right toolbar.
  3. Find your VPN extension.
  4. Click it and choose:
    • Toggle Off or
    • Click Disconnect

To remove the extension:

  1. Click the 3-dot menu > Extensions or More Tools > Extensions.
  2. Find the VPN extension.
  3. Click Remove.

? If the VPN Is Controlled by the Operating System

? Windows

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Network & Internet > VPN.
  3. Select the VPN.
  4. Click Disconnect or Remove.

? Mac

  1. Go to System Settings > Network.
  2. Select the VPN on the left.
  3. Click Disconnect or Remove Configuration.

? If You're Using a Privacy-Focused Browser with Built-In VPN

(e.g., Opera)

  1. Open Opera.
  2. Click the Easy Setup icon (top-right) or go to Settings.
  3. Scroll to Privacy & Security.
  4. Toggle the VPN option off.
